One person’s junk is another person’s treasure. Or at least that’s what the Village of Russells Point is hoping.
During a very short village council meeting on Monday evening, the council heard a report from Police Chief Joe Freyhof about the first round of village sales that are happening on www.govdeals.com was presented.
The village is spring cleaning and selling excess items at a discounted price. Items included in the sale may include desks, office supplies, old filing cabinets, unclaimed found items, and impounded vehicles that were never claimed or were surrendered to the village. Russells Point has been using this resource for over 10 years and it has generated just over $45,000 in revenue for the main operating budget.
After a hiatus from meeting, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Strategic Planning Committee within the village will resume their regular meetings next month. The group is looking to retain current businesses, work on village beautification, and replace existing signage with new modern updates.
The village of Russells Point will meet in its next regular session on Monday, March 20th at 7:00 PM in the municipal building.
