The March 14th storm knocked out power to 36% of the cooperative’s members.
March 18, 2024 – Logan County, Ohio: Logan County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) stands in solidarity with our community in the aftermath of the devastating tornado that recently swept through our area on March 14. While we managed to restore power to most of our members within a day, we’re mindful that many others in our community are facing a much longer road to recovery, that will consume weeks or even months.
In the hours following the storm, our line crew worked tirelessly despite challenging conditions, restoring power to our members. By 3:30 a.m., a majority of our members affected by the storm had their power restored, a testament to the unwavering commitment of our linemen and operations team.
On Friday, March 15th, mutual aid crews from Pioneer Electric Cooperative and Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative arrived to support our ongoing efforts to restore power to our members. “The dedication of our line crew and the support from mutual aid crews have been instrumental in our ability to restore power quickly,” stated Tim Street, president and general manager of Logan County Electric Cooperative.
“Our hearts go out to all those in our community who have been impacted by the recent tornado. While we’re grateful to have been able to swiftly restore power to our members who could be safely re-energized, we understand that many in our community are facing significant challenges in the weeks and months ahead.
The response from our community has been powerful. From business owners to vacation goers, to family and friends, the lending hands and generous donations exemplify the strength and unity of our community.”
