Logan County EMA collecting flood damage reports

The Logan County Emergency Management Agency is asking residents to report flood damage following severe storms and flooding that began August 11 and continued through this week.

Residents who experienced flood damage to their homes are being asked to submit a damage report and photos through the Logan County EMA’s online self-reporting system.

Report Flood Damage to Logan County EMA

EMA officials say the process is being expedited because state officials are moving quickly to determine the extent of damage across Ohio.

Submitting a report does not guarantee Logan County will be included in a state or federal disaster declaration, but the information will be used to help document the damage and determine whether the county may qualify for assistance.

The EMA says there is not enough time to complete traditional door-to-door damage assessments before the upcoming deadline, making resident reports especially important.

Residents should select “Start a New Application” when using the website.

EMA officials stress that this is not an application for financial assistance.

It is simply the term used by the damage assessment software to begin a new self-report.

Residents are asked to answer all questions and provide photos showing the flooding and damage to their property.

Officials also say when asked whether the property is insured, residents should answer “No” if they do not have a flood insurance policy.

Regular homeowners insurance should not be considered flood insurance for purposes of the report.

A Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment involving Ohio EMA and the Small Business Administration and FEMA is expected to begin Monday.

Logan County EMA officials say the information submitted by residents will help provide a clearer picture of the storm and flooding impacts as the county works to get its damage information to Ohio EMA as quickly as possible.
