According to the Logan County Health District, they were recently contacted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources about a possible harmful algal bloom.
The Logan County Health District says the bloom is along Oldfield Beach in Lakeview.
Testing is underway to confirm the presence.
People and pets are asked to avoid coming into contact with the water, including swimming and wading.
When they grow on the surface of the water, these harmful algal blooms can look like:
- Scum
- Spilled paint
- Foam
- Mats or globs of algae
They can also change the color of the water to:
- Blue
- Green
- Yellow
- Brown
- Orange
- Red
