The Logan County Sheriff’s Office kicked off its 6th Behind the Badge Citizens Academy on Tuesday evening. This program offers residents a comprehensive view of the Sheriff’s Office’s daily operations and the responsibilities of its staff.

Participants will gain insight into the procedures, guidelines, and policies that influence the work of deputies, corrections officers, and communications officers. The academy, open to individuals 18 and older, requires all applicants to pass a background check. It will cover various aspects of law enforcement, including operational demands and legal frameworks, and each night of the program offers different subjects.

Sheriff Randy Dodds sums up night #1:

Graduates of the program will have the chance to engage with the community through events and volunteer opportunities via the Behind the Badge program, enhancing the relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and local residents.

The 6th class has just about 20 participants that will go through the program, making it the largest class to date.
