A man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he assaulted another patron at a bar on Indian Lake while intoxicated and was later found carrying a handgun.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Acheson Resort Restaurant & Bar in Lakeview around 8:00 p.m. on Friday for a reported assault.

Deputies say the victim was ordering a drink when Steve Reece, 61, of Kenton allegedly walked up and struck him on the side of the face and the back of the head.

The victim had redness on his face and the back of his head consistent with his account, according to the report.

A bartender who witnessed the incident also told deputies Reece walked up and hit the victim.

According to the report, after the alleged assault, Reece yelled an insult before leaving the area by boat.

Deputies searched the area and nearby marinas but were initially unable to locate Reece.

A short time later, the victim called 911 again after spotting the boat at the Tilton Hilton bar.

When deputies contacted Reece, he reportedly admitted he became upset over events that had happened years earlier and decided to hit the victim “for no reason.”

Deputies noted Reece appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

Reece was taken into custody without incident.

During a search, deputies discovered a .22-caliber single-shot handgun in his pocket.

The firearm was seized as evidence.

Reece was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was booked on charges of assault and using a weapon while intoxicated.
