Market Hog Sale Success for Champaign County Fair

The auction block was fast-paced and exciting as youths who raised swine for their 4-H projects cashed in on their efforts Thursday night at the 2024 Champaign County Fair in Urbana.

More than 180 barrows and gilts were auctioned off with the big-money recipient being Payton Hodge, who received $3,700 for her Champion Overall Market Gilt.

Other top money-makers were Cale Hall, who received $2,100 for his Champion Overall Market Barrow, Owen Black, who received $2,375 for his Reserve Champion Born and Raised Gilt, and Madison Ripley, who cashed in for $1,700 for her Reserve Champion FFA Gilt.

Anna Selvaggio was pleased with her sale. She received a bid of $1,450 when the gavel dropped on her pig.

Other notable sales include $2,150 for Lexi Bowers and $1,900 for Joe Williams.
