Marysville man charged with killing his father

A 27-year-old Marysville man is accused of fatally stabbing his father on Monday.

According to Marysville Police, Micaiah Swindler is charged with the murder of his father, Joseph Swindler.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Meadowlark Lane around 12:30 p.m. when Micaiah called 9-1-1 and told the dispatcher he stabbed his father with a knife.

Officers arrived at the residence and took Micaiah into custody without any incident. They went into the home and found Joseph dead in a bathroom.

Micaiah confessed to fatally stabbing his father in the head and neck. After the stabbing, he reportedly cleaned himself up, changed his clothes, and called 911. During the 911 call, Micaiah said he attacked his father because “God told me to.” He went on to say that his father was “not the nicest guy.”

Micaiah was arraigned Tuesday morning and is being held on a $1 million bond.
