Essie McGuire opened the 2024 Champaign County Junior Fair Livestock Auction in the Woodruff Show Arena on a high note, selling her Market Steer for $11,000 Friday morning. McGuire, who earlier in the week took home Grand Champion honors, got the amount for her 1,348-pound steer.
Also, Avaley Bostick sold her Dairy Steer for $2,150 after taking home the Champion Dairy Steer, Showman of Showman, and FFA Showmanship awards this week.
In the Dairy Feeders auction, Kaleb Pond sold his Champion feeder for $1650. Maci Kunkle earned $3,000 for her Champion Market Goat, and Payton Prince took home $3,225 for her Champion Market Lamb.
The auctioneers for the event were Tood Woodruff, Eric Price, and Lane Hollingsworth.
