Northwestern Bus Overturns: 1 Student Dead Several Injured

Tuesday morning, on the way to their first day of school, a Northwestern school bus collided with a minivan and overturned, killing one child and injuring over 20 others.

The Northwestern Local School bus had 52 students and one driver aboard at the time of the crash.

The student who died was ejected from the bus during the crash.

Students were transported to local hospitals, including several who were transported in personal vehicles by family members.

The accident happened just after 8:00 AM, northwest of Springfield in Clark County.

The school bus was traveling West when a Honda Odyssey traveling East went left of center, into the path of the school bus.

The bus driver attempted to avoid the Honda by driving onto the shoulder however still collided with the minivan.

The bus and van went off the side of the road when the bus rolled onto its side.

The driver and passenger of the minivan were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
