The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has issued an advisory regarding upcoming lane closures and ongoing construction projects that may impact travel across the state, particularly in Logan County.

New Impacts

State Route 47 Lane Closure
Beginning Monday, October 7, State Route 47 will see lane closures between Highland Road and Mann Street in the Village of West Mansfield. These closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Wednesday, October 16, as crews undertake the replacement of catch basins and a pipe.

In addition to ODOT’s announcements, the Logan County Engineer’s Office has confirmed that the Shelly Company will conduct significant road construction on several key routes in the area. Work will take place daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will affect the following roads:

  • County Road 9 – PAVING: Between State Route 47 and State Route 274, from October 7, 2024, to October 11, 2024.
  • County Road 9 – BERMING: Between State Route 47 and State Route 274, from October 14, 2024, to October 15, 2024.

Motorists should note that these roads will remain open to emergency vehicles and local traffic only, with no through traffic allowed. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in the work zones, as there will be unmarked no-passing zones and potential drop-offs along the edges of the road.

Additionally, butt joints at intersections, bridges, and railroad crossings may create bumps in the roadway, and the recommended speed through these areas is 15 mph or less.

County Road 64 will be closed for culvert replacement starting Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 7:30 a.m. The closure will extend until Friday, October 11, 2024, at 3:30 p.m.

The affected section of County Road 64 lies between Township Road 295 and the county line. During this time, the road will be closed to all traffic, including overnight closures.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes to avoid delays. The timeline for the project is subject to change based on weather conditions.

Continuing Impacts

  • State Route 235 Railroad Crossing Closure: Currently, State Route 235 is closed between New Street and Mill Street due to railroad crossing work. This closure, which began on September 26, is expected to last until October 10- Detour Route: Eastbound: State Route 29 East to State Route 296 East to U.S. 68 North to State Route 508 West to State Route 235
  • State Route 366 and State Route 368 Resurfacing: Drivers can also expect intermittent lane closures on State Route 366, between State Route 117 and Township Road 94, and State Route 368, between State Route 366 and Buckeye Drive. Work on both routes began on September 3 and will continue through October 31, with flaggers directing traffic during resurfacing operations.

Motorists are encouraged to stay informed and plan their routes accordingly.
