A Bellefontaine man was arrested Friday evening after deputies responded to a home in Quincy.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 6:20 p.m.

Before they arrived, 45-year-old Miguel Medina had called the sheriff’s office asking that his girlfriend be removed from the home because he believed she had been unfaithful.

During that call, Medina denied assaulting her.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the woman, who said Medina had been drinking and the two had been arguing throughout the day.

She told deputies Medina grabbed her by the arms, threw her onto a bed, and threatened to hurt her.

Deputies reported seeing a bruise on her arm that matched her statement.

The woman also told deputies Medina made her leave the home earlier and tried to make her fall while she was walking up the stairs.

Medina denied assaulting the woman and claimed she had assaulted him, but deputies said he would not explain what had happened.

While searching Medina after his arrest, deputies found a bag containing a white powder in his pocket.

According to the report, Medina initially said it was cocaine before later saying he did not know what it was and claiming he had been “set up.”

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation will test the substance.

Deputies said Medina became combative while being taken to the Logan County Jail, yelling and hitting the windows of the patrol vehicle.

Medina was booked into the Logan County Jail on charges of domestic violence, aggravated menacing, and fifth-degree felony possession of a controlled substance.

The drug charge is pending laboratory testing of the suspected cocaine.
