Hometown Christmas Parade seeks float entries

It’s time to start planning for one of Bellefontaine’s favorite holiday traditions. The Downtown Bellefontaine Hometown Christmas Parade returns Friday, December 4th, at 6 p.m.

Local businesses, organizations, community groups, and residents are invited to take part in the annual celebration.

The parade will begin at the Logan County Fairgrounds, with free, family-friendly activities planned downtown from 4 to 6 p.m.

New this year, parade entries are being asked to make a $10 donation.

Olivia Covey, Downtown Bellefontaine Partnership Event Coordinator, explained how the donations will support the holiday season:

“The $10 entry donation will go directly back into the Downtown Bellefontaine Christmas season. Funds will help support the seasonal activities, decorations, and experiences that the DBP provides throughout the holidays. If any funds remain after this year’s Christmas programming, they will be reinvested into 2027 downtown events and celebrations. Historically, our Christmas programming has operated at a net loss, but we remain committed to creating a festive, welcoming experience for local families and visitors. As we continue to add new elements and enhance existing traditions, the entry donation helps offset a small portion of those costs while allowing us to continue growing and improving the event. We have received a few questions about the fee, which is understandable, but I don’t anticipate it having a significant impact on participation. At $10 per entry, the donation is intended to be affordable while helping support the event itself. Many communities charge parade entry fees, and we believe most participants will appreciate that the proceeds are being reinvested directly into Christmas programming and downtown events.”

Participants must provide an email address and phone number to receive their parade lineup position and order.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, November 18th. No exceptions will be made.

Anyone with questions about their group’s donation can email [email protected].
