The Russells Point Police Department held a suicide awareness sign rally on Friday, bringing community members together to raise awareness, spread hope, and remind those struggling that they were not alone.
The event was held from noon to 1 p.m. and encouraged participants to bring signs and show their support.
Participants displayed encouraging messages including “Hope Is Real,” “You Matter,” “There Is Help,” “Talk Saves Lives,” and “Be the Reason Someone Stays.”
The rally also highlighted the Don’t Give Up movement, which uses positive messages and signs to make hope and encouragement more visible in communities.
Stephanie Ketchel from Coleman Health Services was at the event and talked about the importance of supporting people who may be struggling.
The rally emphasized the importance of starting conversations about suicide and mental health and reminding people that help and support are available.
The message throughout the event was simple: don’t give up, you matter, and you are not alone.
