| COLUMBUS — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced Monday that his office has published a list of 208,856 inactive voter registrations scheduled for removal from Ohio’s voter rolls in January 2027 as part of the state’s legally required General Voter Records Maintenance Program.
With Ohio’s October 5 voter registration deadline quickly approaching, Secretary LaRose encourages every Ohioan to check their voter registration status and make any necessary updates at VoteOhio.gov to ensure they are ready for the November 3 General Election.
“Ohio keeps the cleanest voter rolls in the country, and the vast majority of these registrations are simply outdated data that need to be removed,” said Secretary LaRose. “However, if you are an eligible Ohio voter who is on the Registration Readiness List, the easiest way to ensure your voter registration is not impacted next year is to vote on November 3.”
No registrations identified through the Registration Readiness process will be canceled before the November 3 General Election. Eligible voters can maintain their registration by voting, updating or confirming their registration information, submitting an absentee ballot application, or engaging in other qualifying voter activity.
What voters need to know:
- October 5 is the voter registration deadline for the November 3 General Election.
- 208,856 inactive registrations are currently scheduled for removal in January 2027.
- No registrations identified through this process will be removed before the November 3 General Election.
- Voters can search the Registration Readiness List at RegistrationReadiness.OhioSOS.gov.
- All Ohioans are encouraged to check or update their voter registration now at VoteOhio.gov.
“Whether you’ve recently moved, changed your name, or haven’t voted in a while, now is the time to make sure your voter registration is accurate and up to date,” added Secretary LaRose. “It only takes a few minutes to check your status at VoteOhio.gov and make sure you’re ready to make your voice heard this November.”
Eligible registrations that remain inactive are scheduled for cancellation on January 27, 2027. Eligible Ohioans whose registrations are ultimately removed may register again at any time at VoteOhio.gov. |
