Straight truck loses equipment after hitting Bellefontaine viaduct

A straight truck struck the Bellefontaine viaduct Tuesday afternoon around 2:00, temporarily closing part of Troy Road.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, the truck was traveling south on Troy Road when a piece of equipment it was hauling struck the viaduct, breaking free from the truck and falling into the middle of the roadway.

The truck continued through the viaduct before the driver turned around and returned to the scene.

The driver and a passenger were not injured.

Troy Road was closed for a short time while crews removed the equipment and cleared debris from the roadway.

Police have not released any additional information about the incident.
