This week on In-Sync we sat down with members from the Student United Way in Logan County. Student United Way is comprised of juniors and seniors from area schools (Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Calvary Christian, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Riverside, and West Liberty-Salem).
Students learn about the needs in our community and United Way distributes funds to help those needs.
In spring, the students will help distribute some of that money as they sit down and decide how $25,000 is allocated in Logan County. This is based upon applications received for funding requests.
This year, the Student United Way wanted to give more money back to the community and decided to raise additional funds to put in with the $25,000. They decided to host what they are calling the Major Impact Dodgeball Tournament. The event will take place on Saturday March 25, at Indian Lake High School. The tournament will include five different co-ed divisions: Middle School, High School, Adult, Mature Adult (40+), and Golden (over 60).
Teams will consist of six players (2 alternates will be permissible) and the registration fee is $200. Each division will be a double-elimination tournament with the finals expected to happen around 7:00 that evening.
This event is open to everyone in the community. If you are interested in putting a team together go to uwlogan.org.
All money raised from this event will go back into the community as allocated by the Student United Way.
