Logan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to three separate traffic crashes Tuesday afternoon, including a one-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital.
The first crash happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. on County Road 26.
According to crash reports, Aider Carr, 19, of Bellefontaine, was driving a 2013 Ford Fiesta westbound when he crossed over railroad tracks, went off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and a mailbox, reentered the roadway, then traveled off the left side before coming to rest in a field.
Carr was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bokescreek EMS with suspected minor injuries.
A 14-year-old passenger was also taken to Mary Rutan with minor injuries.
Deputies reported Carr was traveling approximately 60 mph in a 55 mph zone.
He was cited for failure to control, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
The second crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on U.S. 68 near Township Road 219.
Deputies say Antionette Schoepfle, 68, of Bellefontaine, was driving a 2013 Chrysler 200 northbound when she rear-ended a 2021 GMC Sierra driven by Adam Moore, 46, of Belle Center.
No injuries were reported.
Schoepfle was cited for assured clear distance ahead, and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
The third crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. on State Route 273.
According to the crash report, Jacquelyn Sherer, 28, of Findlay, was driving a 2024 Ford Transit van that was stopped while waiting to turn left into a driveway.
As the van began making the turn, a 2011 Dodge Challenger driven by Tristen Smith, 22, of West Monroe, Louisiana, crested a nearby blind curve and attempted to pass the van in the left lane, striking it.
Neither driver was injured.
Smith was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
All three crashes remain under the jurisdiction of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
