Veterans Day is Saturday, and there are a lot of celebrations happening locally over the next few days:
- Benjamin Logan High School, The Benjamin Logan High School Student Government cordially invites all local Veterans to be honored on Friday, November 10, 2023. Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. in the high school commons followed by the official ceremony at 9 a.m. The featured speakers for the event include MSG Joshua L. Shields, OHARNG (Ret), and Lt Col Robert C. Hume, USAF (Ret).
- Indian Lake High School, Indian Lake area veterans and their guests are invited to a day of celebration and recognition on Friday, November 10th at Indian Lake High School starting at 12:30 pm. Join us in honoring veterans with light refreshments followed by an assembly honoring those who served and are currently serving.
- Bellefontaine City Schools and the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District have collaborated to create a Field of Honor at Blue Jacket Park. The Field of Honor will be displayed from Friday evening, November 10th through Monday, November 13th. The names of over 400 veterans will be displayed with a flag honoring their service to our community and country. All community members are invited to visit the Field of Honor and walk between the rows of names and flags. Temporary lighting has been set up for community members to enjoy the Field of Honor after sunset.
- Veterans Day Lunch, the Lakeview Business Group will host a FREE lunch for veterans at AMVETS Post #39, Lakeview on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2023, immediately following the program to honor veterans. Delivery is available for those veterans not able to come to the lunch. Please call Shari Stevens at 937-539-1017 or Melissa Bosley at 937-539-6370 for delivery.
- American Legion of DeGraff Veteran Breakfast & Program, The American Legion of DeGraff and the Riverside High School student council will host a Veteran’s Day breakfast and program on Monday, November 13, 2023. Breakfast will begin at 8:30 am and the program will follow at 9 in the gymnasium.
- Riverside Local Schools will be hosting their annual Veteran’s Day breakfast and assembly on Monday, November 13th starting at 8:30 a.m. New this year, guests are asked to park in the main parking lot and come in through the high school gym doors to sign in. All veterans and their spouses are welcome!
