Monday, a local woman was arrested for operating a vehicle under the Influence (OVI) after she showed up intoxicated at the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Just before 10 PM, Amanda Chavis, 39, of Bellefontaine, arrived at the station and asked to speak with officers about an alleged altercation.
When officers came out to speak with her, it was evident that Chavis had been drinking, and only showed a small scratch on her hand.
She was slurring her speech as she spoke to officers, and they could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from her.
Concerned for her safety, officers conducted field sobriety tests, which she failed.
A breath alcohol test showed Chavis had a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.195 and 0.202, far exceeding the legal limit of 0.08.
Chavis was placed under arrest for OVI and issued a traffic citation after officers found her vehicle parked in front of the Bellefontaine Fire Department.
She was later released to a sober driver and given a mandatory court date.
