Boys Basketball Holiday Showdowns

In a non-league basketball matchup on Monday, the West Liberty-Salem Tigers faced off against the Bellefontaine Chieftains in a series of games.

Varsity:

The West Liberty-Salem Varsity lost to the visiting Bellefontaine Chieftains by a score of 55-48. The Tigers were led by Taran Logwood, who scored 14 points, while Troy Christison added 10 points. Brevin Louden and Isaiah Reames each contributed 9 points, and Carson Poppe added 6 points. Despite these efforts, the Tigers couldn’t overcome the balanced scoring attack of the Chieftains.

Bellefontaine was led by Jair Mundy, who finished with 17 points. Patrick Stolly contributed 15 points, and Jacob Salyer added 8 points to seal the win for the Chieftains.

Junior Varsity:

The West Liberty-Salem Junior Varsity defeated Bellefontaine 55-39. Beckett Sullivan had a standout performance, scoring 19 points, while Asher Cole added 10 points. Other contributions came from Sam Strapp (7 points), Garrett Wallen (7), Noah Sarver (5), Conner Leichty (4), and Tucker Searles (3).

Freshmen:

In the freshmen game, West Liberty-Salem defeated Bellefontaine in a close game 43-41. Brayan Gullett led the Tigers with 14 points, while Casey Boyer and Asher Cole each scored 13 points. Colton Neeld added 2 points, and Zeke Longshore contributed 1 point. Tyler Rossey led the Chieftains with 14 points, and Tiler Monnin added 11 points.

Next Games:

  • West Liberty-Salem will play West Jefferson at home on Monday, December 30th.
  • Bellefontaine will travel to Piqua on Friday, December 27th, for the 98.1 WPTW Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament, where they will face the state-ranked Russia Raiders.

  • Indian Lake was defeated by Versailles 65-39. Madden Lillard led the Lakers with 11 points.
  • In the Junior Varsity game, Indian Lake lost to Versailles 48-37. Braden Tussing led Indian Lake with 12 points.
