The Logan County Invitational brought together each team in the county at Riverside to compete in midseason form.
Bellefontaine Chieftains
Bellefontaine’s girls team ended up winning the invitational with 152 points, powered by strong relay performances—winning both the 4×8 and 4×2 and finishing second in the 4×4. The Lady Chieftains were led by seniors Kelsey Snapp, who locked down both throwing events, and Callie Shumaker, who double-crowned in the hurdling events. Jillian Ullum also placed second in the 100 as well as the 400.
Bellefontaine’s boys’ team placed third, racking up 88.5 points while dealing with injuries. B-Town was led by Hayden Maus, securing first place in both the 1600 and 800, as well as Caleb Sechrest, who won the 300 hurdles and placed second in the 110 hurdles. Landon Gerwels placed second in the 1600 as well as third in the 800, and Oliver Grandstaff won the 3200, as the long-distance crew made up for the absence of sprinters.
Indian Lake Lakers
Indian Lake won the boys’ championship with 124.5 points due to many strong relay performances, including first-place finishes in the 4×1 and 4×4, as well as a second-place finish in the 4×2. Christopher Timms continued to dominate the throwing pits, winning both shot put and discus. Gavin Henry won the 110 hurdles and followed up with a second-place finish in the 300. Brody Reisinger also won the 100 and leaped to third in the long jump.
The Lady Lakers placed third overall, putting up 67 points thanks to a great individual effort by Addison Beck. Beck dominated both the long and high jump before moving onto the track, where she won both the 100 and 200 to give herself four medals on the day. Terra Beltz scored six points with a second-place finish in the shot put, and Laura Metzger also contributed with a first-place finish in the 3200.
Benjamin Logan Raiders
Ben Logan’s girls team placed second overall with 110 points, dominating the relay events with two first-place finishes in the 4×1 and 4×4, as well as two second-place finishes in the 4×8 and 4×2. Abby Vance placed second in both the long jump and 200 to lead the Lady Raiders. Peyton Smith placed second in the 1600, and Scarlett Elliott placed second in the pole vault.
Ben Logan’s boys team also placed second, securing 94 points while also excelling in the relay events, with first-place finishes in the 4×8 and 4×2 and second-place finishes in the 4×1 and 4×4. Gus Biart secured second-place finishes in the shot put and discus to give the boys team an early edge. Owen Stratton won the high jump, as Roman Maxwell followed with two second-place finishes in the high and long jump. Carter Daniels also won the pole vault, as both Raider teams saw great all-around team efforts.
Calvary Christian Spartans
Calvary Christian’s boys team scored 32 points through a strong overall effort. Adly Knox placed second in the 800, and Brett Gilldow placed second in the 400. John Gaertner placed second in the 3200 as well as fourth in the 400.
Calvary Christian’s girls team scored three points in the form of a fifth-place finish in the 4×4 and a fifth-place finish in the 300 hurdles by Avery McCarty.
Riverside Pirates
Riverside’s girls team scored 17 points, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 4×1. Third-place finishes in the 100 by Addison Shoe and in the long jump by Kenna Johnson also contributed to the Pirates’ total.
The Chieftains will travel to Upper Sandusky High School to compete in the Gerald Swankhouse Memorial Invitational this Saturday. Indian Lake, Riverside, and Ben Logan will all be at Waynesfield-Goshen for the Tiger Invitational on Friday. The Spartans’ next meet will be at Bellefontaine next Tuesday.
