Indian Lake splits doubleheader; Riverside drops two

Saturday was a busy day on the softball diamond, with Indian Lake and Riverside both facing doubleheaders.

Mackenzie Dixon led the way for the Indian Lake Varsity Lakers, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles in a 9-2 victory over Newton.

The Lakers jumped out with five runs in the first inning, including key RBIs from Annie Rapp, Abigail Elliott, MacKenzie Miller, and Addison Stinemetz.

Halle Roby and Bre Wisener combined for a strong pitching performance, allowing just two runs on four hits.

Indian Lake racked up 16 hits total, with multiple players collecting multi-hit games.

In a tough second matchup, Indian Lake fell 8-7 to Tri-Village despite outhitting them 12-11.

MacKenzie Miller recorded three hits, and Halle Roby drove in two.

The Lakers held a lead into the final inning, but Tri-Village’s late surge—including a home run by Camryn Osborne—sealed the win.

The Riverside Varsity Pirates opened their day with a tough 16-7 loss to Newton.

Aubree Huston launched a two-run homer in the first, and Riley Dillon added three hits and three RBIs.

Newton’s offense piled up 16 hits and capitalized on Riverside’s defensive miscues.

Riverside’s struggles continued in the second game with an 11-1 loss to Tri-Village.

Keira Manahan led the Pirates at the plate, going 2-for-2 and driving in the lone run.

Tri-Village’s Caley McCarroll had four RBIs and Kash Mead chipped in with three hits.

Monday, Indian Lake will travel to North Union and Riverside will host Troy Christian.
