Lakers Win in Overtime, Triad Faces Tough Loss and WL-S, BHS Win

The Indian Lake varsity girls basketball team secured a thrilling 47-34 overtime victory at Greenville. Mackenzie Dixon was the standout player, scoring 19 points, including 10 in overtime, to lead all scorers. Courtney Altstaetter added 9 points and 9 rebounds, while Kennedy Schwaderer contributed 8 points and 4 steals. Carly Strayer scored 6 points, and Alivia Kinney added 5 points. The Indian Lake JV team lost 35-18, with Terra Beltz leading the way with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Over in Triad, the varsity girls’ team faced a tough opponent at Elgin, losing 61-11. Mia LeMay had 5 points and 9 rebounds for Triad, while Abbey Overfield contributed 4 points and 5 rebounds. Bre Parsons added 6 rebounds. Triad will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they travel to West Jefferson for a 6:00 p.m. varsity-only game.

In a close matchup, West Liberty-Salem defeated Greenon 42-38. Addi Wallen led WL-S with 12 points, while Ava Johnson added 9 and Maddie McGill scored 8. The WL-S JV team won 47-27, with Grace Jones and Lucy Cole each scoring 12 points.

The Lady Chieftains of Bellefontaine hosted a tough London team for their league opener. The Lady Chiefs got the win with a huge fourth-quarter rally, outscoring London 18-6. Leading the scoring was Laila Butler with a game-high 15 points and she grabbed 5 rebounds. Tiffany Boop, with her first double-double of the season, scored 13 points and hit the boards hard, ripping down 10 rebounds. Quinlan Zedeker added 12 points and had 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Gabbe Hoon chipped in 4 points and had 5 rebounds.
The JV Lady Chiefs lost to London 35-21.
The Chiefs will be at home on Saturday, December 14th, playing host to Tecumseh. JV tip is at 12 o’clock and Varsity at 1:30 pm.
