It was a busy day in girls tournament basketball Saturday.
Indian Lake started the day playing Kenton Ridge at Troy High School.
The Cougars hung in with the Lakers in the first half with Indian Lake having a 20-19 lead at the break.
The Lady Lakers turned up the defense in the second half as Kenton Ridge didn’t make a field in the 3rd or 4th quarters. Their only points were 3 fourth quarter free throws.
The Lakers pulled away for a 38-22 victory.
Carly Strayer paced Indian Lake with 13 points while Kennedy Schwaderer had 11.
Indian Lake (14-9) will face Urbana Wednesday night at Troy High School.
The #2 seed Urbana Hillclimbers blitzed Thurgood Marshall 64-22.
The Hillclimbers forced multiple turnovers in first quarter as they ran out to a 34-8 lead.
Urbana put the game away by halftime with a 51-12 score.
Peyton Mounce was the leading scorer pouring in 27 points in 2 1/2 quarters of action. Her 27th point stopped the game because she was honored for scoring 2,000 points in her career.
Urbana is now 19-4 as they prepare for Indian Lake Wednesday night. Earlier this season, Urbana beat the Lakers 37-31.
The Graham Falcons battled the #4 seeded Oakwood, but ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. The Lumberjacks pulled away for a 69-58 win.
Graham was up 27-26 at the half, but Oakwood used a 5-0 run to end the third quarter and lead 45-40.
The Lumberjacks wore the Falcons down scoring 19 points from the charity stripe in the second half.
Evelyn Connor had 25 points and Caroline Roelle added 20 for Oakwood.
Graham also had two players with big games. Riley McAlexander had 20 and Zoey Conn poured in 24.
The Falcons end their season 10-13.
#2 West Liberty-Salem turned a 5-point halftime lead into a 17-point victory beating Fairlawn 50-33.
Ava Astorino led the Tigers with 16 points.
The Tigers will return to Covington Tuesday to face #4 Fort Recovery.
