Riverside rallies to edge Covington; Indian Lake falls to Shawnee

Riverside’s varsity softball team pulled off a thrilling comeback on Tuesday, scoring five runs in the sixth inning to take down Covington, 7-6.

Emilee Robinson had a standout game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the first, along with singles in the fifth and sixth innings.

Riverside jumped out to an early lead thanks to Robinson’s homer, but trailed until a huge sixth-inning rally flipped the game.

Keira Manahan delivered the big hit of the inning with a two-run homer to left field.

Manahan also earned the win in the circle, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on 12 hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

Riley Dillon came in to record the save.

Riverside totaled 14 hits in the game.

Manahan and Jayden Hoffer each drove in two runs, while Taylor Dillon and Miah Carman both had multiple hits.

The Pirates also turned a double play on defense.


The Indian Lake Varsity Lakers struggled against Shawnee in an 11-2 loss on the road Tuesday.

Annie Rapp provided a highlight with a solo home run to center in the second inning and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Brylee Buyer also collected two hits, while MacKenzie Miller and Rapp each drove in a run.

Bre Wisener started on the mound and allowed 11 runs — seven earned — over six innings, striking out one and walking four.
