Soccer Update: West Liberty-Salem Face Defeat, Boys Celebrate Victory; Indian Lake Girls Tie

In a weekend of mixed results for local soccer teams, the West Liberty-Salem girls’ soccer team faced a tough match against the Urbana Climbers on Saturday night, falling 0-4. Despite an impressive performance from goalkeeper Audrey Collins, who made 11 saves, the Tigers were unable to score. This loss brings their overall record to 6-7 and 4-2 in conference play.

The girls’ team will look to bounce back as they host OHC Springfield Catholic Central for Senior Night on Monday, with kickoff scheduled for 5:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to attend and support the Tigers as they honor their senior players.

In contrast, the West Liberty-Salem boys’ varsity soccer team celebrated a solid victory against Urbana, winning 3-0. Isaiah Reminder was a standout contributor, scoring one goal and providing two assists, while teammates Carson Kerns and Elijah Christison each netted a goal. Goalkeeper Tucker Searles and the defense secured a shutout, with Searles recording three saves. With this victory, the boys’ team now boasts an impressive record of 10-2-2 and will also host their senior night this Monday before the match against Springfield Central Catholic.

In another matchup, the Indian Lake girls’ soccer team played to a hard-fought tie against Springfield High School, ending the game 2-2. Chloe Wade and Cambria Tuttle each scored one goal, while Olivia Hurley and Diem Martin contributed with one assist each.
