The West Liberty-Salem Boys Track Team competed on Friday in Day 1 of the OHSAA State Track & Field Meet.
The 4x800m relay of Quentin Rudolph, Asher Cole, Asher Knox, and Caleb Larson earned All-Ohio Honors, finishing 8th place in a time of 8:05.10.
Qualifying for Saturday finals (top 9):
- Jackson Steider in the 110m hurdles (14.46) and 300m hurdles (39.35).
- 4x100m relay of Lincoln Henderson, Jack Bahan, Jackson Steider, and Sam Kidd. Their time of 42.82 sets a new school record for West Liberty.
Also participating in semi-final races:
- The 4x200m relay of Troy Bradley, Jake Lauck, Taryn Bradley, and Isaiah Reminder finished 18th with a time of 1:32.14
- The 4x400m relay of Jake Lauck, Jack Bahan, Quentin Rudolph, and Troy Bradley finished 11th with a season-best time of 3:25.06.
The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field Team also competed at the D3 State Meet Friday morning for prelims. All sprints and relays were run as prelims, while the 4×800 relay and field events were run as finals.
Elise Longshore placed 12th out of 18 vaulters in pole vault with a height of 10′ 6″.
Qualifying for the finals on Saturday was Chloe Griffith seeded 2nd in the 100m dash with a qualifying time of 12.32. Also qualifying on was the 4×100 relay of Tori Douthwaite, Hattie Jacobs, Ella Albers, and Chloe Griffith running a new PR and qualifying time of 50.32.
Chloe will run the 100m dash at 9:40 AM, and the 4 x 100 relay will compete at 10:20 AM for a shot at the podium.
