Logan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Tega helped deputies find fentanyl during a traffic stop in West Liberty.

According to the sheriff’s office, the traffic stop happened Friday near Thoman’s grocery parking lot.

A gold Honda Pilot was stopped after deputies noticed a cracked windshield and a tinted license plate cover.

They also discovered the license plates did not match the vehicle’s registration.

The driver was identified as Bethany Lasseter, 32, of Huntsville, with Justin Stidham, 32, of Bellefontaine, as the passenger.

Lasseter told deputies they had recently bought the vehicle and had not yet fixed the issues.

A records check showed Stidham was on probation through Logan County.

Deputies also reported seeing both people making suspicious movements and moving things around inside the vehicle.

Both were asked to get out of the vehicle while deputies investigated.

K-9 Tega was then brought in to check the vehicle for drugs.

Tega alerted at the front passenger-side door, indicating the possible presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle reportedly found a digital scale and a spoon with white powdery residue.

The residue was field-tested and tested positive for fentanyl.

Stidham’s probation officer was contacted and requested that he be held.

Stidham was arrested and later tested positive for fentanyl at the Logan County Jail.

Lasseter was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments.

Both were taken to the Logan County Jail.
