Bellefontaine came together Sunday evening at the Holland Theatre to honor one of the city’s most accomplished athletes, Louie Vito, who was presented with a Key to the City of Bellefontaine by Mayor David Crissman.

Earlier that afternoon, Vito also took part in the America 250 Parade in downtown Bellefontaine, driving the car pictured above as part of the community celebration.
Vito, a graduate of Stratton Mountain School in Vermont, has represented both the United States and Italy on the world stage. He competed for Team USA at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver before representing Italy at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina.
Throughout his career, Vito has earned six X Games medals, four U.S. Overall Grand Prix Championships, two Winter Dew Tour Cup Championships and the 2009 FIS World Cup Halfpipe Championship.
Beyond competition, Vito has become an ambassador for snowboarding and his hometown through appearances on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and the annual Louie Vito Rail Jam, which has raised thousands of dollars for local charities and community projects.
During Sunday’s event, Vito also took part in a community Q&A, giving local residents the opportunity to ask questions about his Olympic experiences, his career, challenges along the way and what the future may hold.
It was a special evening celebrating Louie Vito, his accomplishments and the impact he continues to make in the Bellefontaine community.
