A Bellefontaine woman was arrested Tuesday evening after police responded to a domestic violence call at a home on West High Avenue.

According to the Bellefontaine Police report, officers were called to the home around 5:45 p.m.

When they arrived, they spoke with a man outside the house who said 32-year-old Danielle Smith had punched him in the face three times.

The man told officers the argument started after he arrived at the home after a dinner celebration.

According to the report, the man said Smith tried to knock food out of his hands, called him names, and threw her phone at him.

He also said she hit him in the arm with shelves that had been removed from a cabinet, causing a cut to his pinky finger and breaking his wristwatch.

Police then searched for Smith inside the home, and later found her inside a shed on the property.

Smith admitted to pushing the victim and said she hit him in self-defense after claiming he tried to grab her throat.

When officers asked why she was in the shed, Smith reportedly said she was “trying to get away from him.”

Ultimately, Smith was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

She was taken to the Logan County Jail and booked without problems.
