A Lakeview woman was arrested for OVI Thursday afternoon after deputies responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a camper.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched around 3:25 p.m. to Rosewood Avenue in Lakeview for a non-injury crash involving a black Chevrolet Silverado and a camper.
Deputies had earlier been called to the area for a possible impaired driver in a black truck but were unable to find the vehicle.
When law enforcement arrived, the Silverado was reportedly moving back and forth in a gravel parking area and appeared unable to get out, despite nothing blocking its path.
The driver, identified as 56-year-old Jane Arthur, then drove into the grass and began backing up again.
Deputies reported smelling a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Arthur and said she showed several other signs of intoxication.
Arthur initially said she had drunk two shots of Black Velvet.
Deputies also noticed an open bottle in a bag being held by Arthur’s passenger.
Both Arthur and the passenger appeared intoxicated.
Arthur told deputies she did not have a driver’s license and then failed field sobriety tests.
She was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail, where she submitted to a breath test of 0.173, nearly two times the legal limit.
Arthur was later released to a sober driver and ordered to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court next week.
