It’s a car, it’s a plane, no, it’s a hot air balloon!
This Friday and Saturday Grimes Municipal Airport will host the 5th annual Champaign County Balloon Festival.
Gates in Urbana are scheduled to open at 5 p.m.
Admission is $3 for adults & $1 for kids.
Event activities include food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, face painting, a beer garden, music, and the Champaign Aviation Museum will be open.
12 Balloons are scheduled to be onsite, and as long as the weather cooperates are set to take flight at 6 p.m. each day.
But nothing beats the 7:30 p.m. Balloon Glow. Seeing the massive balloons all lit up is a unique sight.
Eventgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening.
The Balloon Festival event is put on by the non-profit Grimes Field Foundation.
