The Bellefontaine City Council held its regular session on Tuesday evening, addressing several important matters affecting the community.

Mayor Dave Crissman began the meeting by appointing Justin Dinovo to the Planning Commission, a decision that received unanimous approval from council members.

In recognition of National Manufacturing Week, the mayor read a proclamation and presented it to Ben Vollrath, President of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, highlighting the significance of manufacturing in the local economy.

Service Safety Director, Wes Dodds, updated the council on recent activities, including the Planning Commission’s review of updated zoning text for solar energy use within city limits.

He requested a special hearing to discuss this recommendation further, which has been scheduled for November 12th at 6:30 PM.

Dodds also commended the water department for their swift repairs on a major water main break on County Road 32 and praised the Bellefontaine Fire Department for their ongoing commitment to service despite staffing shortages.

During the meeting, Police Chief Chris Marlow addressed parking concerns in downtown Bellefontaine.

He noted issues with oversized vehicles encroaching on roadways and sidewalks, stating that the current parking ordinance, established in 1977, will be reviewed by the streets committee for potential amendments.

The council proceeded to approve several ordinances, including:

1. First Reading:

  • 24-77: Authorizing the Service-Safety Director to enter a contract for a Freightliner M2 106 Plus Cab and Chassis, passed unanimously.
  • 24-78: Establishing compensation for council members and city officials for 2026, passed with a vote of 6 to 1.
