The Bellefontaine Exchange Club is hosting its 64th Annual Safety Town Program, which has been a part of the community since 1962.

The program started after a local child was killed while crossing the street, leading to a parent’s request for a safety program for young children.

Safety Town covers important lessons like pedestrian safety, traffic signs, fire safety, and how to stay safe from strangers and drugs.

The program is taught by trained officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, and occasionally the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

All sessions will take place at Bellefontaine Elementary School, 1101 Ludlow Road.

Classes will be held Monday through Friday with two sessions, one at 9:00 AM and another at 1:00 PM.

Each session lasts about two hours and parents are welcome to attend with their children if needed.

The Safety Town program will run during the following weeks: June 2nd, June 9th, June 16th, and June 23rd.

The program is open to children who will enter kindergarten in the 2025-2026 school year and is free to attend.

Parents can conveniently register their child by visiting the Bellefontaine Parks Department website.

This program is available to all Logan County pre-kindergarten students.
