Bellefontaine Police made two arrests for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) over the weekend, highlighting ongoing concerns about impaired driving.

Early Saturday Morning Arrest

In the early hours of Saturday, around 2:30 AM, officers stopped 22-year-old Jason McCullough of West Mansfield after noticing his black Acura had no functioning tail lights.

The stop occurred at a gas station, where the officer detected a strong smell of alcohol and observed McCullough’s bloodshot eyes.

McCullough admitted to consuming Crown Apple about one to two hours prior.

He showed multiple signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, which he ultimately failed.

A search of the vehicle revealed an opened can of beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Breath tests later recorded McCullough’s blood alcohol concentration at 0.143 and 0.141, nearly twice the legal limit.

He was cited for OVI and released to a sober driver.

Sunday Morning Arrest

Just after 3 AM on Sunday, 24-year-old Madison Duncan of Dublin was also arrested for OVI.

Officers observed her white Mazda swerving over the double-yellow line and failing to stop at a stop sign on West Lake Avenue.

Upon stopping her vehicle, officers noted the strong odor of alcohol and Duncan’s bloodshot eyes.

When questioned, Duncan admitted to having consumed four Long Island iced teas.

She struggled during field sobriety tests, failing to maintain her balance and follow instructions.

Although her breath samples indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.069 and 0.064—below the legal limit—her driving behavior warranted the arrest.

She was also cited for OVI and released to a sober driver.
