Bellefontaine Police handled three separate traffic crashes on city streets over the holiday weekend.
The first crash happened Friday shortly before 5 p.m. on South Main Street.
According to police, three vehicles were traveling southbound in the right lane when a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic driven by 67-year-old Ruth Boyer of West Liberty stopped abruptly to avoid a southbound vehicle turning left into the KFC parking lot.
A 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by 24-year-old Adrian Calhoun of West Liberty, was able to stop without hitting the Sonic.
However, a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse operated by 44-year-old James McCoy of Bellefontaine struck the rear of the Outlander, pushing it into the Sonic.
No injuries were reported. McCoy was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
The second crash occurred Saturday around 2:30 p.m. at Sandusky Avenue and Troy Street.
Police say a 2012 GMC Acadia driven by 29-year-old Briana Pruneda of Jackson, Michigan, was stopped at the stop sign on North Troy Street when she failed to yield and entered the path of a 2001 Mazda B-Series pickup traveling eastbound on West Sandusky Avenue.
The Mazda was driven by 59-year-old James Hoops of Springfield.
Bellefontaine Fire and EMS responded and checked those involved for injuries.
No injuries were reported, and Pruneda was cited for failing to stop at the stop sign.
The third crash happened Monday around 1:30 a.m. at Allison Road and Dakota Road.
A 2002 Acura CL driven by 19-year-old David Gearhart of Lakeview was traveling southbound on Allison Road when police say he approached Dakota Road at an excessive speed and failed to stop at the stop sign.
The Acura continued across the northbound lane, struck a curb, and then hit a tree.
Police estimated Gearhart was traveling about 45 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone.
No injuries were reported. Gearhart was cited for failure to control.
