On Monday evening, Bellefontaine Police responded to reports of an assault in the 100 block of North Hayes Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who was sitting in her vehicle nearby.
The victim explained that she had visited her ex-partner’s residence to see their three dogs, with permission from her ex. However, she was confronted by her ex’s mother, Delories Escamilla, 54, of Bellefontaine who refused to let her enter the home.
The victim stated that her ex instructed her to go inside, leading her to seek a private conversation outside the home.
According to the victim, once they were in the backyard, Escamilla came out of the back door, ran after her, and punched her in the left side of the face.
The victim stated that Escamilla grabbed a handful of hair and ripped it out.
She stated that she left the backyard and went to her car to call the police.
Officers noticed the victim had broken skin on the top of her left eyelid and underneath her left eye.
Additionally, her left cheekbone was red and had a purplish tint near the top of her cheekbone, consistent with mild bruising, and the left side of the victim’s glasses was bent.
Officers asked Escamilla if she hit the victim and she stated that she didn’t remember, claiming she “blacked out”, but remembered there was an altercation.
Escamilla was placed under arrest for assault and told officers she could not be cuffed from behind because her arm would be uncomfortable.
She told law enforcement that she was going to pass out, and fainted.
Medics then responded to the scene, but she refused treatment.
Delories was cuffed in the front for her comfort and was transported and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
