The Benjamin Logan Board of Education met Monday evening, handling a full agenda that included administrative appointments, financial approvals, personnel changes, policy updates, and student-related items.
Kicking off the meeting was an executive session, including a discussion regarding the appointment, employment, and compensation of personnel.
After the session, the Board approved a new three-year employment contract for Superintendent Sean Flynn, running from August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2029.
In student programming, the board approved the creation of a new student organization, the TPUSA Club America, in accordance with district policy.
Jeffrey Peak was announced as the club’s advisor.
Treasurer/CFO Leah Baker presented the March 2026 financial report, which was approved along with bank reconciliation documents and all March 2026 bills.
The Board also approved an appropriation adjustment for the Middle School Student Council account 200/9612 to include a fundraiser supporting the Rally for a Cure.
Additional financial actions included approval of a $300 Beef Promotion Grant from the Logan County Cattle Association for Jeffrey Peak, as well as approval of Middle School Rally for a Cure funds to be donated to Tony and Susie Grant and William and Lindsey Meddings.
Personnel actions included approval of several resignations, including:
- Chris Bair, teacher, effective June 1, 2026, for retirement
- Kimbalyn Smith, teacher, effective May 31, 2026, for retirement
- Chelsey Webb, teacher, effective July 31, 2026, for personal reasons
The Board also approved a one-day deduction for Gretchen Powell on May 14, 2026.
New and continuing employment contracts were approved, including:
- Victoria Hoffman, custodian, Step 6, effective March 30, 2026
- Jonathan Hartman, teacher, BA/150 Step 5, one-year contract (Aug. 1, 2026–July 31, 2027)
- Abigail Hemker, teacher, BA Step 0, one-year contract (Aug. 1, 2026–July 31, 2027)
The Board also approved substitute staff lists for both Benjamin Logan and the ESC for the 2025–2026 school year, pending completion of all Ohio Revised Code requirements.
Other approvals included certification of 141 seniors to receive diplomas at the May 22, 2026, graduation ceremony, pending completion of district and state requirements.
Policy updates were approved under Policy Update 44.2 (January 2026) and Special Update (March 2026), covering a range of areas including NIL regulations, grading, budget preparation, purchasing, credit card use, artificial intelligence, and food service policies.
Additional action items included approval of bus driver reimbursement procedures, licensed physicians for bus driver physicals, a bus contract with an Amish school, and acceptance of several donations totaling more than $2,700 supporting student programs and athletics.
The next regular meeting of the Benjamin Logan Board of Education is scheduled for May 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
