A fire that broke out near DeGraff on Saturday afternoon was the result of a rekindled trash fire from earlier in the week.
The blaze, which started in a cornstalk field near the intersection of Township Roads 30 and 33, quickly spread due to dry conditions, leading to a multi-agency response.
According to authorities, the fire originally started on Wednesday as a trash fire.
Winds and the dry conditions caused the fire to rekindle, sparking flames that ignited a nearby cornstalk field.
The fire spread quickly, prompting a response from the DeGraff Fire Department, along with support from Miami Township, West Liberty fire departments, and Mac-O-Chee EMS.
A local farmer assisted fire crews by using a tractor to plow a fire break, helping to prevent further spread.
Firefighters worked throughout the afternoon to control the flames, with the situation eventually being brought under control.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
