The Urbana Fire Division recently joined local children and community partners for this year’s Safety Town program, continuing a tradition firefighters say is one of their favorite events of the year.
Safety Town provides young residents with important lessons about personal safety, including fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and how to respond in potentially dangerous situations. Through hands-on activities and interactions with first responders, children gain valuable skills designed to help keep them safe at home and in the community.
Firefighters spent time teaching fire safety concepts and giving participants an opportunity to meet members of the department up close. Officials said the experience helps build confidence and awareness that can have a lasting impact on children as they grow.
The Urbana Fire Division also expressed appreciation for the Urbana Police Division, which organizes the annual program and coordinates participation from multiple agencies.
Department officials said partnerships like Safety Town help strengthen the community by bringing local organizations together with a shared focus on educating and protecting Urbana’s youth.
The Urbana Fire Division thanked everyone involved in making the program successful and said they look forward to participating again next year.
