On Thursday morning, deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office stopped a minivan on Sandusky Avenue in Bellefontaine for excessively tinted windows. The routine traffic stop quickly escalated when the occupants aroused suspicion.

Due to the circumstances, K9 Tega was brought to the scene for an open-air sniff. Tega alerted deputies to the presence of potential narcotics in the vehicle. Following the canine’s indication, deputies conducted a thorough search but found no current illegal substances.

Despite the lack of drugs, the residual odor in the minivan suggested previous narcotic use. As a result, deputies seized the vehicle for further investigation. The driver and a passenger were released from the scene without charges.

Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the incident, and the seized vehicle will undergo additional examination.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of traffic safety and the role of K9 units in assisting with drug-related investigations. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
