A report of gunshots early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a man who deputies say refused to cooperate and resisted arrest during an investigation.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly before 2:00 AM to the area of County Road 55 and County Road 10 after a caller reported hearing gunshots from an unknown location.
The caller also reported seeing a vehicle parked nearby when the shots were heard.
As deputies searched the area, another gunshot was heard from a neighboring property, leading them to a residence on County Road 55 where a bonfire was taking place.
Deputies reported finding several people gathered outside and observed open beer cans near the residence.
While speaking with the group, deputies say Hunter Pride, 31, of Dayton, argued that they were on private property and could legally discharge firearms.
Deputies told him the concern was not the gunfire itself but the possibility of handling weapons while intoxicated.
According to the report, Pride refused to provide identification and continued arguing with deputies.
When he was told he was under arrest for disorderly conduct, deputies say he refused repeated commands to put his hands behind his back and actively resisted.
Deputies took him to the ground and eventually placed him in handcuffs after what they described as a controlled struggle.
Pride was transported to the Logan County Jail and charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
