Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies handled two crashes over the weekend.
On Saturday, just before 12:30 p.m., a 2017 GMC Acadia driven by Ted Cornelison, 54, of Bellefontaine, and a 2024 Hyundai Elantra driven by Daren Titus, 63, of Bellefontaine, were involved in a crash on Township Road 218.
According to reports, Cornelison was traveling eastbound when he stopped in the roadway.
Titus was traveling behind him.
Cornelison then began to back up in the roadway and struck Titus’ vehicle.
Cornelison was issued a citation for improper backing.
Cornelison told deputies he had been tracking his lost dog when he spotted it running in a field and backed up to watch its movement.
No injuries were reported.
In a separate crash later Saturday, just after 4:00 p.m., a 2012 Kia Sorento driven by Christopher Eley, 43, of Bellefontaine, was traveling westbound on U.S. 33 near U.S. 68 when he applied the brakes to slow down and they locked up.
The vehicle traveled into the center median and struck a sign.
Eley was not injured and was issued a citation for failure to control.
