The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Logan and Champaign Counties held its annual “Don’t Give Up” Sign Rally Thursday, September 18, in downtown Bellefontaine.
The rally was held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in front of the Bellefontaine Courthouse as community members gathered to spread messages of hope and encouragement.
Signs were provided to participants, who displayed positive messages for people passing through downtown.
Organizers say the event was held as part of September’s Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, with the goal of reminding people who may be struggling that they are not alone.
The “Don’t Give Up” movement focuses on making messages of hope and encouragement more visible in local communities.
Organizers say even a few minutes of someone’s time can make a difference by showing others that their community cares and that help and support are available.
