On Sunday, David Taylor, 61, of Raymond, was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired after being stopped by deputies for driving a red Pontiac without a visible license plate.
While on patrol, Logan County Sheriff Deputies noticed the vehicle driving erratically on State Route 235.
They initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Bentz Avenue and State Street in Lakeview.
Deputies noticed a can of Smirnoff Smash on the floor and smelled alcohol inside the vehicle.
Taylor admitted to having one beer about an hour before the stop.
He denied having anything illegal in the vehicle or open containers of alcohol.
During a search of Taylor’s car, deputies found six open containers of alcohol and a digital scale with a white powdery residue.
Taylor refused to perform field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI.
He was transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department for a breathalyzer test, which he also refused.
Taylor received citations for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, refusing to submit to tests, and failing to display a license plate.
He was also given summonses for the open containers and drug paraphernalia, then released to a sober driver.
