A late-night traffic stop on Saturday led to the arrest of Michelle Gill, 32, of Delta, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Just before midnight, deputies stopped Gill on County Road 1 near County Road 55 due to an obstructed license plate.

Upon making contact with Gill and her male passenger, deputies detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Gill admitted that her passenger had been drinking but claimed she had not. Despite her assertion, Gill agreed to perform field sobriety tests to ensure her fitness to drive.

After failing several field sobriety tests, Gill was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence (OVI). She was transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department where she took a breath test, which resulted in a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.104%, above the legal limit.

Gill was cited for OVI and for having an obstructed license plate. Gill’s driver’s license was seized, and she was provided with a citation and information about her court appearance.
