Thirty-eight-year-old Thomas Gomez, of Bellefontaine, is facing an OVI charge after a traffic stop early Thursday morning in Bellefontaine.

Police say officers spotted Gomez driving slowly and crossing the double yellow line on Dowell Avenue around 12:15 a.m.

Officers tried to stop him, but police say Gomez continued into an alley before stopping near North Main Street.

Law enforcement says they smelled alcoholic beverages on Gomez and found two open Busch Light cans in the vehicle.

Gomez told police he had consumed four beers.

Police say Gomez was unable to complete field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test.

Gomez was taken to the Logan County Jail and lodged on one count of OVI.

His information was also forwarded to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.
