A semi-truck leaking diesel fuel caused a response from emergency crews in Bellefontaine on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 4 PM crews were called to State Route 47 West in Bellefontaine after reports of a leaking semi-truck.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a hole in one of the truck’s fuel tanks, causing a spill of approximately 30 gallons of diesel onto the roadway.

Bellefontaine Fire quickly contained the leak using absorbent floor dry and setting up barriers to prevent the fuel from spreading further.

Bellefontaine Fire and Police also assisted at the scene.

The driver of the semi, Thomas Fellows, 46, of Beavercreek, said the fuel tank was punctured after running over a small metal bar in the street.
