Second Harvest Food Bank is partnering with local organizations to help Logan County families stock their pantries this summer.

The food bank will host a special Summer Pantry Food Distribution on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bellefontaine High School, 555 East Lake Avenue.

Goers are asked to enter through the parking lot off of Harding Street.

The drive-thru event is designed to assist families who may face additional financial challenges during the summer months when children are no longer receiving free breakfasts and lunches at school.

“Summer can add pressure to families already working hard to make ends meet,” said Alex Jackson, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank. “This distribution helps our neighbors fill their summer pantries with nutritious food and provides support during a time when household grocery costs often rise.”

The need for food assistance continues to increase throughout Logan County.

Aliyah Baker, Development Specialist, Second Harvest Food Bank, talks about all the details for the distribution:

According to Feeding America, the county’s food insecurity rate has risen from 9.9 percent to 14.1 percent over the past two years.

In 2025, Second Harvest Food Bank served 6,432 individuals in Logan County through its network of food pantries and mobile food distributions.

All Logan County residents in need of assistance are encouraged to attend.

Participants should bring a valid photo ID and are asked not to arrive before 9 a.m.

Organizers say everyone in line by 1 p.m. will be served.

Second Harvest expects to assist hundreds of residents through the event as part of its ongoing effort to ensure local families have access to nutritious food close to home.
